Planet Notion premiere the debut single by Northern American

Planet Notion have revealed the debut single by LA-based 4-piece, Northern American. ‘Wander’ will be released via Heist Or Hit Records on Monday 20th January, but you can stream the single now by following the link below.

When Californian four-piece Northern American chose to name their debut EP Happiness Hungover earlier this year, it revealed a great deal about the lush, evocative indie that the quartet produce. With nods to the breezy pop-tinged brilliance of their LA peers Local Natives, the downplayed dramatics of US stalwarts The National and the dream-like textural soundplay of their Heist or Hit labelmates Simian Ghost, the band’s output to date trades in that distinctly post-midday optimism that comes with leaving one’s hangover behind and discovering the day anew.

High Hazels appear at #4 in There Goes The Fear’s ’10 for 2014′

High Hazels have been tipped as Ones To Watch in 2014 by influential music blog There Goes The Fear.

“Sheffield’s High Hazels have been a favorite here at TGTF since we first featured them in this Bands to Watch back in July. They played four shows at this summer’s Tramlines Festival as part of a growing number of up-and-coming Sheffield bands whose sound hinges on catchy guitar melodies and heart-wrenchingly romantic lyrics.

“Going back to the end of 2012, High Hazels have had a productive year, winning the attention of Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker and the BBC’s Steve Lamacq. They were featured in Sheffield’s Exposed magazine in February 2013 as part of that publication’s In Session series. (Check out the band’s YouTube page to see videos from that session.) Then, in July, just around the time of Tramlines, High Hazels signed with indie record label Heist or Hit Records, who coordinated the release of debut single ‘Hearts Are Breaking’ (reviewed by Mary here). In September, ‘Hearts Are Breaking’ won a coveted spot on Lamacq’s BBC 6Music Rebel Playlist, ahead of its official release on the 7th of October.”
