Rapids! play ‘dark indie’ in their own unique style. Hailing from the distinctly un-angular art punk town of Bournemouth, the band have quickly come to the notice of bands and radio alike. Opening shows for the likes of The Chapman Family and Errors, the band have a live show that transfixes audiences. Without any team around them in the early days, the band also gained notice from Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy and Tom Robinson with Steve Lamacq interviewing Matt Holliday on air on his 6Music show.

Sheffield four piece The Crookes are the latest members of Team Heist Or Hit. We are humbled and delighted that George, Alex, Daniel and Russell have agreed to release a single with us and excited about all that is ahead for the band.

They were brought to our attention by our great pal Sean who also did all the design work for The Answering Machine. Sean had heard good things about The Crookes and urged us to check them out. It was a pretty no brainer really. Sometimes you just see a band and they are playing songs that you have to tell people about. A&R can be the simplest job in the world.

The single, out April 5th, is called Bloodshot Days and it’s been bouncing round my head for weeks now. The b-side is also well worth checking out too. Remember the good old days when bands put effort into B-sides?Well The Crookes have done that here. Finally if you head over to iTunes on release day, there will be some other goodies to download.

The Answering Machine might have started life a few years ago to a wave of giddy industry adulation and press accolade. Then, they were a starry-eyed trio with a clutch of bedroom recorded, drum machine backed indie-pop nuggets. Snapped to singles deals and for publishing, the trio began trading on their raucous youthful exuberance and innocent good looks.

Diving undercover as the band’s buzz reached fever pitch, The Answering Machine spent a period in hiding prolifically pre-producing and penning several dozen new songs. They bolstered their attack with real life drummer Ben Perry, introduced alongside their trusty drum-machine friend, ‘Mustafa Beat’.

By the end of 2008, they had locked themselves up in a remote North Yorkshire studio with Manic Street Preachers and Idlewild producer Dave Eringa at the helm, ready to record their essential first album.

Now, in 2009, with intensity and maturity, they are able to deliver their devastating pop tales on their debut long player, “Another City, Another Sorry.”

The record, packed full of melody, charm and energy, covers every conceivable emotion in a devilish cocktail of adrenaline and bitter sweet lyricism.

LoveLikeFire – About

LoveLikeFire is Ann Yu, David Farrell, Martin Mattern, and Eric Amerman. Formed in 2006, the band have played all over America, self booking national and regional tours across the country (including SXSW, CMJ and Monolith festival) and released two self funded EPs which have both been warmly received.

The band have also been lucky enough to be hand picked to play shows with Black Kids, Dead Confederate, Mates of State, Tilly and the Wall, Dead Meadow, Cloud Cult, Benji Hughes, The Virgins, The Teenagers & Port O’Brien.

In early 2008, LoveLikeFire signed to new UK indie label, Heist or Hit records and went into Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco with producer Bill Racine (Mates of State, Rogue Wave) to record their debut full length, Tear Ourselves Away. An album telling tales of the desire to run free from inhibitions, being keenly aware of one’s surroundings, fears, desires, compelling moments of inspiration, that you can tear yourself away from that which holds you back and truly come into your own. The album is set for release in 2009.
