January 21st, 2009Artrocker and Jon Kennedy.

The brilliant Ric Rawlins at Artrocker Online has posted a review of our gig at Vibe Bar last week, in which he describes us as:

“Smart and sexy, fresh and wild, budding young indie bunny rabbits”

Can’t argue with that!

You can read the review in full HERE.

Keep an eye out on the Artrocker site, coz those guys are ACE!

In other news, Cliffer is in John Kennedy’s Top 5 in his X-Posure show on XFM:

X-Posure Big One: Gold Teeth ‘Everybody’
The Answering Machine ‘Cliffer’
Bonaparte ‘Who Took The Pill?’
Favours For Sailors ‘Erode My Empire’
Future Of The Left ‘The Hope That House Built’

If you’re listening to his show then please give him a text to request it. That man is a legend, and he has a lovely face (and an unbeatable collection of stripey jumpers).

January 21st, 2009The Answering Machine – About

The Answering Machine formed in 2005. Originally, a three piece with a drum machine the band have bloomed into a dynamic four piece with the inclusion of Ben Perry on Drums. Rising to critical acclaim supporting the likes of Good Shoes, Rumble Strips and Dirty Pretty Things, three singles and two UK tours the band have recently finished recording their debut album ‘Another City, Another Sorry’ with Dave Eringa (Idlewild, Manic Street Preachers). Appearances in Artrocker, the NME, the Guardian, V Magazine and on BBC Radio 1, Radio 6 and Channel 4’s JD Sets have earned them celebrity fans such as Hedie Semaine and Rick Edwards and made their album eagerly awaited.

January 20th, 2009Cliffer!

We have finally set a release date for our debut single, ‘Cliffer’. It is due out on the 9th March, with a mini UK tour beginning on the same day. We are currently sifting through a few concept ideas for the video, which will hopefully be filmed in the next 2 weeks. As soon as it’s completed we’ll get it up on to You Tube for you to have a chuckle.

The artwork for all of our upcoming Singles and LP has been put together by our friend Nicola Chipman (www.flickr.com/photos/clapyourhands) and is a series of photographs of Manchester architecture, including a skyline shot of the city for the album cover. The design and layout of the sleeves is by the rather amazing Sean Mort.

The March tour dates are:

Cardiff Ifor Bach (March 9)
Manchester Ruby Lounge (March 10)
London Hoxton Bar And Kitchen (March 11)
Newcastle The End (March 12)
Edinburgh Sneaky Pete’s (March 13)
Liverpool Evol (March 14)

The tour is a ‘rotating headline’ with Flashguns and CasioKids. Should be a reet blast so get yourself down!

Bedtime,
